Do people know what you do?

That may sound like a simple question. But really think about it for a moment.idea

Do people truly understand what you do? All of it?

I know from personal experience that its sometimes hard to list every single thing you do either on your brochures, on your website, or in your other marketing materials. You might give them a list of the few things you think would be best for them, but you might also leave off a few things you don’t think they are interested in.

Yet the easiest way to bring in money is to sell more to your existing client base.

Here are some ideas for you to start generating new sales just be letting people know what you do.

1. Blog about an existing client. You can highlight their business, talk about the work you’ve done from them, and possible results they’ve had by using your product or service.

2. Blog about the benefits of your service. Notice I didn’t say talk about your service. Instead, talk about how your client will benefit from the results of working with you.

I design blogs and provide ghost blogging services for my clients. But rather than writing a post exclusively about my services, I wrote a post Ghost Blog Writing Services – What does it truly mean? I then filled it with information that shared the benefits of the service. People learned from it rather than being sold to.

Its a way of educating your clients about what you do in a non-threatening way.

3. When you’re out networking, especially in a group that knows you well, don’t give them the standard “I do this” speech. Instead, tell them about about your newest client. People like to put themselves into the situation you’re describing. It’s easier for them to see how you could benefit them.

I’m Lori. My latest client was looking for a way to effectively reach out to a broader audience, yet wanted something economical that wouldn’t break her budget. I helped her by designing a customized blog that she can take control over, and gave her a simple set of instructional videos to show her exactly how to work it. I’m looking for others that would also benefit from an effective, economical way of creating new business.

4. Start sending newsletters. Did you know you can send newsletters at a very reasonable cost? Imagine sending out one or two to your existing client base and followers a month, and give them a ton of new ideas. Show them specific ideas you are working on with other clients. One of the great things I enjoy about my bi-monthly newsletters is I can input anything into them. I usually take entries from my blog and feed them directly into my newsletters. That way I’m using my content in multiple ways to reach out and give people new ideas for generating business.

You are completely immersed in what you do. Your clients aren’t. By sharing ideas with them all the time, you’ll eventually pick up new business with the people that like and trust you. What couple be better than that?
