Finally back from a long holiday break. ![]()
I always love the first Monday in January. The holidays are behind us, it’s the beginning of a New Year, and I’ve got all my goal sheets and tasks laid out in front of me. I’m ready to get started on making the New Year the best yet.
Since I’m putting the details in place for my new class Make Money Online in 2009, I thought I would put together a post giving you some questions to think about.
1. Do you know the difference between SEO (search engine optimization) and SMM (social media marketing) and where you should be focusing your efforts?
The world has been using buzz words like SEO for years. For many years its been at the top of Internet savvy business owners lists. But now social media is rapidly moving up the ranks, and more importantly, giving business owners huge results.
2. Do you have accounts on five or more social media sites?
The key to a good online strategy is to be where your customers are. Do you know where they spend their time? Are you there?
3. Do you spend an hour or two each week learning about new technology and how it can help you with your business?
The only way to stay on top of everything is to continue to learn. I spend many hours each week with trade publications, and on RSS feeds of some of the best information online. It’s important to keep up on the latest and greatest, and try things that can help you grow.
4. Do you know how you should be using different social media tools?
You may hear words like Facebook, Twitter and Digg throughout the media. But do you know how to use them? Are you wasting your time putting up a few sentences of information, or do you really understand how to connect with your prospects and clients?
5. Do you have a plan in place this year for both online and offline marketing?
Now more than ever, you need a plan to succeed. You need to have resources to use to gain business. And you have to work at it regularly. What’s your plan?
6. How is your blog inter-related to your other social media tools?
Everything you do should have a purpose. They aren’t all separate pieces – they should all be woven together to provide you access to more business. That’s why you’re in business, right? So if your blog isn’t connected to your social tools, and you don’t reference your blog address in all your offline marketing, you’re missing important promotional opportunities.
