Having a blog (or a website) isn’t enough. You have to market it too.
One of the ways I’ve always recommended is article marketing. Article marketing involves writing an informative article that pertains to your business, and submit it to a variety of places in hopes they will use it, giving you a valued link back to your site or blog.
I use a variety of sources and tools to get the article into as many hands as possible. Some of my old tools are becoming more difficult to use. So when I heard about Affsphere, I decided to head over and see what they have to offer.
They set up their article program a bit different than others. In most cases, you write articles for the sole purpose of getting your article onto other websites, and into other ezines for the linkage back to your site. Affsphere takes it one step further, and allows you to offer earn affiliate commissions based on the connections you make and the people you refer. They also have an advertising network that allows you to advertise - and drive traffic back into your site. Pretty cool.
I created my account yesterday in just a few minutes. And I’m working on my 10 articles to submit to gain my free 2000 ad credits. The other thing I like about their back end system is I can set up multiple authors - a great thing for me to easily market for my clients.
I’ll be testing out this new system here over the next couple weeks to see how well it performs.

I went to the bookstore with my daughter over the weekend, and sitting in the new release section was a book titled, Stuff White People Like. So of course I had to pick it up,
as I’d written about their blog earlier in the year.
What is the true power of a blog?
In the case of Stuff White People Like, they went from concept, to millions of hits, to book release in just a matter of a few months.
Yet many business owners look at examples like this one, and don’t connect how it can impact their businesses in much the same way.
Twenty years ago it was who you knew that mattered most. In order to get your product onto the shelves, you had to know the right people.
Now you just have to know how to get yourself online (hint: a blog is a great place to start), and start connecting.
1. Set up your strategy. What do you want?
2. Establish your strategy. Now that you know what you want, what can you share with others?
3. Keep it up. Have you ever heard the phrase, "90 percent of success is just showing up?" Just keep writing and networking, keeping your strategy in mind.
4. Show up where the leaders are. It’s all about marketing. Adding the content is great - but you also have to show it to those that can connect you.
5. Do it all over again. When you achieve success, do it again.

Where else can you gain immediate exposure?
Where else can people have an immediate say?
It’s all about the blog.
BlogHer, a social community for women who blog, has an exclusive on-camera interview with presidential candidate Barack Obama. This isn’t a network or cable television station. This is an online source of influence. And Barack knows it, and is using this "new" media very well. ![]()
Blogging isn’t about writing a little bit about your company, your products and services, and sharing it with a few friends. Blogging is about sharing your knowledge, your opinions and your thoughts with the world. Blogging puts you in the position of building up your expertise, and allows you to share that position with a huge audience - virtually anyone, anywhere in the world.
Imagine writing a post that is shared with hundreds of fans, friends, and media representative. Imagine posting an opinion that puts you in the authority - and gives you the ability to rise to the top of a few popular sites because of your strong opinion. Imagine growing your business just because your opinion is on the top of these sites, and hundreds of new contacts now know your name.
It’s all possible. In fact I meet and connect with several new people every day just because I blog. Blogging leads to new resources, and these resources always lead to new contacts.
Imagine where I’ll be a year from now with a few new powerful contacts every day.
Where will you be?
