What separates you from your competition?
When you visit your competitions’ websites, can you tell the difference between your site and theirs? (I’m not talking about a few different photographs, and a change of address. Does your site truly look different in your prospects eye?)
The one sure-fire way of stepping away from the crowd is to provide a wide array of content. People need to be able to see and hear the difference. And when you can’t do that in person, its important to put as much into your web presence as possible.
1. Write
Don’t just write a paragraph or two on each of your five pages. Write as if you’re speaking directly with a customer. The average person speaks around 160 words per minute. In a one hour meeting, you would speak around 9,600 words. Use those words to tell people about you and your services.
2. Create a video
Have you ever hired a person because of the way they speak? People resonate with other people because of their speech, their body language, and the way they communicate. The easiest way to get your point across is to create a video for your site or blog. It doesn’t have to be a 60 minute full production. Even just a 2 minute opening can produce amazing results.
3. Blog
I’m a huge fan of blogging because it allows you to communicate in so many ways. You can show your personality, let people know your work ethics, answer questions, and provide detailed information on what you’re good at. You can then take this information and feed it into a variety of other online sources, such as social sites, articles from trade publications and newsletters, and content on complementary sites. It builds forever, so keep blogging.
4. Online social networking
People hang out in different areas because of likes and interests. If someone loves reading a blog, they may not enjoy reading Facebook. And Facebook followers may never join Twitter. By joining a variety of social sites, and keeping in touch regularly, you’ll have a ton of opportunities for future business.
5. Host a teleseminar
It’s so easy to set up a training class, pick up the telephone, and start teaching. And every business can benefit from some sort of training. Whether its with existing customers to teach them how to use your product or service better, or working with prospects and providing more information on other levels of products and services. With places like Instant Conference, it’s a great way to add to your bottom line.
