One of the biggest concerns a busy business owner has when we discuss blogging is the time factor. When do you have time to blog every single day? That’s a great question from someone who’s already working a 10-12 hour day, and can’t fathom adding anottimestampher 30 minutes of writing into a blog.

The great thing about a blog is its automated. You have access to your account manager 24/7, meaning you can sit down and write when you have the time, and when it fits into your schedule. So maybe you have an hour on Friday morning - write a few posts and get them into the system.

When you are writing a blog post, you have the option of placing in a date and time of when you want the post to be released. You can have it released immediately when you hit "publish" or you can post date it into the future. So if you have a half hour to spare, write a few posts and schedule one a day throughout the week.

The important thing is you are adding quality information that attracts your readers. When you post it isn’t important. It’s the frequency of the release.

Isn’t automation grand? :)

I love writing. I’ve written a ton of articles, am a columnist for the Denver Business Journal, and have a couple of books written and published. I guess I just love sharing what I do with as many people as I can.

Thanks to the Internet, there are more options than ever for getting your information out there. books

If you know Mark Victor Hansen (yep, the Chicken Soup for the Soul author) you’ll want to know about his latest creation. Head on over to his newest site YouPublish  and find out how you can quickly get your stories, poetry and even photographs published quickly. In fact, you can publish books, music, photos, study courses, audio, video and presentation files with just a few clicks of your mouse.

His site is still in beta, scheduled to open up sometime here in May, but it may be time to jumpstart your publishing career by signing up now. With Chicken Soup fame behind him, I’m sure this site will become golden in just a few months - why not go along for the ride?

I was listening to an interesting conversation on the radio this morning. The two DJs were discussing the self-help book market, and how Oprah has single handedly changed the book industry into a self-help marketplace, filled with thousands of books targeting every flaw possible. Their entire conversation was a question of whether you were tired of reading self-help, and if you were at the point of accepting who you are, no matter how happy (or unhappy) you truly are.

I love a great debate to find out different view points. And the entire conversation was interesting. But that’s not what I took away from the 20 minutes I spent in my car. amazon

Somewhere in the middle of the conversation, one of the DJs mentioned they were looking at buying Oprah’s latest book choice by Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth. So she went over to Amazon. She spent 30 seconds talking about her Amazon experience, and how she feels its the greatest website on earth. Where else can you go to find anything you are looking for, find a great price, and read a ton of reviews to find out if you really should make the purchase.

And it got me to thinking - what makes a site social? Isn’t a social site about sharing ideas and opinions? Isn’t it about becoming a part of the experience?

So instead of talking MySpace and Facebook all the time, why not start with one of the oldest social sites online? You can create your profile. You can write reviews. You can add your opinions and comments, and link back to your sites.

Hmmmm….

Just like other forms of marketing, you have to find places thatusatoday get your blog noticed in the online world. A great new source is The Blogger and Podcaster Guide.

Do you have a hobby? Why not turn it into a blog.

Scrapbooking is one of the largest hobby industries out there right now. Millions of people scrapbook on a regular basis. They have parties and weekend getaways to scrapbook with friends, and keep up with the industry through a wide variety of magazines. People spend hundreds of dollars every year to keep up with the supplies, and to create their own scrapbooks.

Sounds like a great opportunity to me.

So what if you want to create a blog about scrapbooking? What can you do? Here are some ideas.

  • You can blog about the scrapbook pages you create. Share with your readers a photo of the final page, the papers and embellishments you used, how you put it all together, and where you can find the resources.
  • You can blog about supplies. There are thousands of different suppliers available – share some of your favorites and link to the best sites.
  • How about digitizing your scrapbooks? Many scrapbookers are very proficient on the computer, and love creating pages using Photoshop and other software programs. Show the latest tips using technology.
  • What about a site showcasing the different classes and tours? There’s dozens of different shows touring every single week. Why not make it easy for people to find

Want more ideas? I found Top 50 Scrapbooking Blogs that lists out the top blogs in the industry. This will help you find ideas – and maybe help you find an area that’s missing, and could allow you to start blogging.
